YEAR END APPEAL
Your year-end support will have a lasting impact
Give Today to Help Nourishing the North Shore Fulfill Our Mission:
Dear Friends,
If you’ve been to the grocery store lately, you’ve probably experienced sticker shock. Across Massachusetts, grocery prices have climbed nearly 30% over the past five years, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. Fresh fruits and vegetables — the foundation of a nutritious diet — are among the hardest hit. Here in our region, food costs are rising twice as fast as in many other states, leaving more families struggling to afford fresh, healthy meals.
At the same time, cuts to federal programs like SNAP have reduced support for those who need it most. Our food pantry and meal program partners here in Essex County are seeing record demand, with more residents turning to community organizations for help.
At Nourishing the North Shore, we are committed to meet this growing need— distributing over 70,000 pounds of fresh, local produce each year with great efficiency and collaboration. As the year comes to a close, we invite you to make a year-end gift to help us continue nourishing our community in the year ahead. Every dollar helps feed our neighbors and strengthen local farms.
Together, we can make sure everyone has access to fresh, local food — no matter the price at the checkout line.
With gratitude,
Tany Blasko
Executive Director, Nourishing the North Shore

Partnerships That Put Fresh Food Within Reach
NNS has built strong partnerships with farms and community organizations across the North Shore—all united by a shared goal: expanding access to fresh, locally grown food. Community Action Inc. (CAI) serves low-income residents in the greater Haverhill and seacoast area and collaborates with NNS on food and nutrition initiatives. Late Bloom Farm, a small organic farm in Haverhill, supplies fresh produce for the free weekly Farmers Markets hosted at CAI. Through these partnerships, NNS proudly invests in the local food economy by purchasing bulk produce from small farms and making it available at no cost to low-income individuals and families through VEGOUT Farmers Markets at CAI and throughout the lower Merrimack Valley.
“NNS’s expertise and heart make them a vital partner in advancing food access in our region.”
– Adriana Leo, Director, Community Action Inc.
“NNS values the local, fresh produce that we put our heart and soul into here at Late Bloom Farm. It is really a win-win for everyone in the community.”
– Anna Kelchin, Owner, Late Bloom Farm
