There is nothing like a 70 degree March day for a little construction inspiration! Doug an NNS regular volunteer and Kailey our program co-ordinator worked together at the Foley workshop to build the wash station that will be at the Grafton Community Garden. We were going back and forth on design, but decided on something simple that could become part of a larger wash station in the future.
Since there might be heavy loads of veggies on the table we wanted to make sure it was super sturdy. We used 4x4s for the posts, 2x6s for the frame and 2x4s for the support.
For the top of the table we went with a composite decking because it is easy to clean and weather proof. The other side of the table has 1" rat wire... don't let the name fool you, it is for spraying down veggies!
And there it is - the wash station complete! We will be able to put a soaking bin on top of the decking and store bins under the table. Can't wait to use it! If this weather continues it might be sooner than later.
